于磊博士于2021年入选南开大学“百名青年学科带头人培养计划”，目前是南开大学统计与数据科学学院副教授、博士生导师。于磊博士在2015年从中国科学技术大学电子信息工程专业博士毕业，之后分别在中国科学技术大学、新加坡国立大学、以及美国加州大学伯克利分校做博士后研究。于磊博士目前的研究领域为信息论、概率论、组合数学的交叉领域，具体包括测度集中、等周问题、泛函不等式等理论。目前在Probability Theory and Related Fields、IEEE Transactions on Information Theory等国际著名期刊上发表论文25篇。于2022年获得中国电子学会信息论青年新星奖，自2024年3月开始担任信息论顶刊IEEE Transactions on Information Theory副主编。

讲座内容：

Give a joint probability measure, the noise stability problem is to estimate the joint probability of a pair of sets (A,B) given the marginal probabilities of A and B. In this talk, we will survey classic and recent advances on the noise stability problem, including several important conjectures, e.g., Mossel-O’Donnell conjecture (2005), Courtade-Kumar’s conjecture (2013), Ordentlich-Polyanskiy-Shayevitz's conjecture (2020), etc. We will also discuss the connection between the noise stability problem and a class of well-known functional inequalities---hypercontractive inequalities. This class of inequalities has found many applications in probability, combinatorics, computer science, and functional analysis.
